📝 Obtain a transcript of a video ad

The Video Ad Transcription feature on GetHookd.ai allows you to extract and analyze the textual content of video ads, offering deeper insights into messaging strategies and keyword usage. This feature is available for video ads and is free — it doesn't use any credits. You don't need to save the ad first: if it isn't saved yet, it's added to your default board automatically when you generate the transcript.

Important: This feature works only for video ads already in the Gethookd library. You cannot paste an external video URL or Facebook reel link to transcribe — the ad must first be found in Explore or saved to your Swipe File.


How to Transcribe Video Ads


  1. Navigate to the Explore Page
  2. Select a Video Ad
  3. Open the ad's details: click on the "Details" button
  4. Open the Transcription tab: it sits next to the Overview and AI Script tabs, and only appears on video ads.
  5. Click Generate Transcription: you don't need to save the ad first — if it isn't saved yet, it's added to your default board automatically.
  6. Read the transcript: once it's ready, the text of the video ad is displayed right in the Transcription tab. The transcript includes timestamps, making it easy to correlate specific moments in the video with the text — use the Show timestamps switch to hide or show them. If the video has no spoken words, you'll see "We couldn't find any spoken words in this video." instead.
