The GetHookd Chrome Extension lets you save ads directly from the Meta Ad Library and TikTok into your Swipe File or a specific Board inside GetHookd — without leaving your browser. You can also spy on brands straight from the Facebook Ad Library.
Before You Start
- Browser: Google Chrome only.
- Access: Requires a GetHookd account and active login.
- Credits: Saving ads via the extension is free. Spying on a brand uses credits (same as in-app).
- Estimated setup: 1–2 minutes.

Step 1: Install the Extension
- Visit the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome → Add extension.
- Pin the extension to your Chrome toolbar for easy access.
Step 2: Log In
- Click the GetHookd icon in your browser toolbar.
- If you’re not logged in, click Login and sign in with your GetHookd credentials.
- Once logged in, you’ll see the extension’s checklist and Default Board dropdown.
Step 3: Save Ads
When browsing any supported ad library page, you’ll see a Save to Gethookd button on each ad. Here’s how saving works:
Save to your Swipe File
Click Save to Gethookd on any ad card. The ad is saved to your Swipe File and will appear in the app.
Save to a specific Board
Use the Select Board dropdown next to the save button, choose the board you want, then click Save to Gethookd. The ad is added to that board and synced to your Swipe File.
Set a Default Board
Click the extension icon in your toolbar and choose a Default Board from the dropdown. From now on, every ad you save will automatically go to that board — no need to select one each time.
You’ll see a confirmation message once the ad is saved. Some larger ads (especially videos) may take a few extra seconds.
Step 4: Spy on Brands
On the Meta Ad Library, you’ll see a Spy Brand at Gethookd button on every ad card — both on search results and on a brand’s individual page. You don’t need to visit the brand’s page first. Just search for any keyword or topic, and you can spy on brands right from the search results.
Click the button to start tracking that brand with Brand Spy. Once you’ve already spied on a brand, the button changes to Track in Brand Spy (shown in green). Click it to open the brand’s page in GetHookd.
Spying on a brand from the extension costs the same credits as spying in-app (one-time cost of 8 credits per brand).
Note: Very large brands with 10,000+ active ads cannot be spied on to ensure system performance.
Success Check
You’ll know it worked when:
- You see the confirmation “Saved to GetHookd” on the ad card
- The ad appears in your Swipe File (and under the selected Board) in the app
- If you spied on a brand, it appears in your Brand Spy list and the button turns green with “Track in Brand Spy”
Troubleshooting

FAQs
Where do saved ads appear in GetHookd?
In your Swipe File. If you selected a board, the ad also appears in that board.
Can I change the board after saving?
Yes. In GetHookd, open your Swipe File, click the ad, and change its board from the sidebar.
Does it work on TikTok?
Yes! The extension works on the TikTok Ad Library, TikTok Creative Center, TikTok Spotlight, and even organic TikTok videos. You’ll see the same “Save to Gethookd” button on supported pages.
Can I spy on brands from the search results?
Yes! On the Meta Ad Library, the Spy button appears on every ad card in the search results. You don’t need to visit the brand’s page first — just search for a keyword and spy on any brand you see.
Can I spy on brands from TikTok?
Not yet. Brand Spy via the extension is currently available on Meta Ad Library pages only.
Does saving ads cost credits?
No. Saving ads to your Swipe File via the extension is free. Spying on a brand costs 8 credits (one-time per brand).
Does it work on other browsers?
The extension is built for Google Chrome. It may work on Chromium-based browsers like Brave or Edge, but it’s only officially supported on Chrome.
Notes & Limits
- The extension only works on supported ad library URLs listed above.
- You must stay logged in to GetHookd.ai in the same browser session.
- Some large video ads may take a few extra seconds to save.
- Brands with 10,000+ active ads cannot be spied on from the extension.
