đź’ˇ Swipe File

Your Swipe File is your personal collection of ads you’ve saved for inspiration, analysis, or reference. Every ad you bookmark from the Explore page or save via the Chrome Extension ends up here.

Think of it as your ad library — organized, searchable, and always ready when you need ideas.

Before You Start

  • Credits: Saving ads to your Swipe File is completely free.
  • How to get there: Click Swipe File in the left sidebar.
  • Plan limits: Some plans have a monthly ad save limit. You’ll see a message if you’ve reached yours.

How to Save Ads

There are three ways to save an ad to your Swipe File:

  1. From the Explore page — Click the bookmark icon on any ad card. The icon fills in to confirm it’s saved.
  2. From the Chrome Extension — Click Save to Gethookd on any ad in the Meta Ad Library or TikTok. The ad appears in your Swipe File automatically.
  3. From the ad detail view — Open any ad and click the Save button.

To unsave an ad, click the filled bookmark icon again.

What You’ll See

The Swipe File has two tabs:

My Ads

This is your main view. All your saved ads appear as a grid of ad cards showing:

  • Brand logo and name
  • Ad preview (image, video, or carousel)
  • Format label (Video, Image, Carousel)
  • Performance Score (star rating)
  • Bookmark icon (filled, since it’s saved)

The total number of saved ads shows at the top. Scroll down and more ads load automatically.

Brands

Switch to the Brands tab to see a list of brands you’ve saved ads from. Click any brand to open their full Brand Page.

Ad Detail View

Click any ad card to open the full detail view. Here you’ll see:

  • Full creative — image, video, or carousel with prev/next navigation if there are multiple media items
  • Ad copy — the full text of the ad (expandable)
  • Brand info — name, logo, and link to the Brand Page
  • Platform and format — where the ad runs and what type it is
  • Days active — how long the ad has been running
  • CTA type — the call-to-action button used
  • Landing page — link to where the ad sends traffic
  • Performance Score — star rating with tier label

Actions you can take from the detail view:

  • Save / Unsave the ad
  • Download the media (image or video)
  • View the brand — open the full Brand Page
  • Share the ad — copy a shareable link
  • Spy on the brand — start tracking it with Brand Spy
  • Clone the ad — use it as inspiration in Clone Ads to generate your own version
  • Generate a script — create an AI video script based on the ad
  • Assign to a board — organize it into one or more boards

Boards

Boards let you organize your saved ads into collections. Think of them as folders for different projects, campaigns, or themes.

Create a Board

Click the Create new button and select Board. Give it a name (e.g., “Summer Campaign Ideas” or “Competitor Ads”) and choose which folder to put it in.

Assign Ads to Boards

From the ad detail view, use the board selector to assign the ad to one or more boards. An ad can live in multiple boards at the same time.

You can also assign a board when saving from the Chrome Extension by using the Select Board dropdown.

Set a Default Board

In the Chrome Extension popup, choose a Default Board. Every ad you save from the extension will automatically go to that board without having to select it each time.

View a Board

Click on any board in the sidebar to see just the ads in that collection. You can search, filter, and sort within a board the same way you do in the main Swipe File.

Rename or Delete a Board

You can rename any board or delete it. Deleting a board does not delete the ads inside — they stay in your Swipe File.

Use the search bar at the top to find specific ads in your Swipe File. Type a brand name, keyword, or phrase and results update in real time.

Your search term is saved in the URL, so you can bookmark a filtered view.

Filters

The left-side filter panel works the same way as on the Explore page. You can filter your saved ads by:

  • Ad Format (image, video, carousel)
  • Status (active or inactive)
  • Run Time (minimum days running)
  • Start Date (date range)
  • Niche (industry category)
  • Language
  • Channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
  • Performance Score (star rating)
  • Creative Usage
  • Brand Active Ads
  • Video Length
  • EU Transparency (gender, age, reach)

All filters combine together — stack as many as you need.

Sort Options

Use the sort dropdown to reorder your saved ads:

  • Latest added — most recently saved (default)
  • Oldest added — earliest saves first
  • Newest — by ad start date, newest first
  • Oldest — by ad start date, oldest first
  • Longest running — ads that have been live the longest
  • Most used — ads whose creative appears in the most campaigns

Remove Ads

Remove from Swipe File:

Click the filled bookmark icon on any ad card (in the Swipe File or on the Explore page) to unsave it. The ad is removed from your Swipe File.

Remove from a Board:

Open the board, find the ad, and remove it from that board. The ad stays in your Swipe File and any other boards it’s assigned to.

Share a Board

Each board has a shareable link. Share it with teammates or collaborators so they can see the ads you’ve curated — great for creative brainstorming or campaign planning.
