What is Swipe Files?


Swipe Files is a collection of public boards put together by the GetHookd team. Each board gathers ads we think are worth studying, so you get a head start on inspiration without building a collection from scratch.


You'll find it under Discover Ads → Swipe Files in the left menu.


Swipe Files vs. Swipe File — what's the difference?
Swipe Files (this article) are curated boards built by our team, shared with everyone.
Swipe File is your own private collection of ads you've saved. Nobody else sees it.
They sit near each other in the menu, so it's worth knowing which one you're in.


Previously called Expert Picks, and Staff Picks before that. Only the name changed — the boards, and anything you've already saved from them, are exactly where you left them.


Exploring Swipe Files:


  • Search by Text: Utilize the search function to find specific public boards based on relevant keywords.
  • View Public Boards: Click on a public board to access its contents.
  • Copy a Public Board to Your Workspace: If you find a public board particularly useful, click the Copy button on its row. In the Copy board window, give your copy a name, pick the folder it should go in, and confirm — you'll see "Board saved successfully!" and the copy appears in your own folders for future reference.
  • Board Details: Get an overview of each public board, including the number of ads it contains, when it was last updated, and how many times it's been copied by other users.
  • See who curated it: The Experts column shows the expert (or experts) behind each board — their photo and name, with a small check mark if they're verified. When a board has more than one expert you'll see a +1, +2, etc. next to the lead name; click it to see everyone. Click any photo or name to open that expert's profile.
  • Pages and Sorting: Boards are listed in a table, a page at a time — use the page controls at the bottom to move between pages or change how many rows you see. The list starts with the most-copied boards first; click the Ads, Experts, Last updated, or Copy column heading to sort by that instead.


Expert profiles:


Click an expert's photo or name — in the Swipe Files list or at the top of a board — and their profile slides in from the right, without taking you away from the page you're on. You'll see:


  • Who they are: name, handle, specialty, and an Expert or Verified expert label.
  • Their numbers: how many swipe files they've curated, how many ads are in them, and how many times their boards have been copied.
  • A quick sample: up to six ads from their files, longest-running first. Click one to jump to the board it comes from.
  • Where to follow them: a Follow on Instagram button and a community link, when the expert has added them.
  • Their swipe files: every board they've curated, with its ad count, last-updated date, and any co-curators. Click a board to open it.


Close the profile with the X, the Esc key, or by clicking outside it. Not every board has an expert attached yet — those simply show the board owner instead.


Board View:


When you access a public board from Swipe Files, you'll have a "restricted view" of the included ads, as described in the "Restricted View" section of the Ad List article. This means you'll see basic information about each ad, such as content format, description, saving time, platform, number of likes, CTA type, and categories. When a board has an expert attached, their profile opens automatically the first time you land on the board, so you can see who picked these ads. Close it and it stays closed while you browse; you can bring it back any time by clicking the expert's name at the top of the board.


Additional Functionalities:


  • Search, Filter, and Sort: Inside a public board you can search its ads, narrow them down with filters, and sort them by Latest added, Oldest added, Longest running, Most impressions, or Newest ads.
  • Infinite Scrolling Ads: Effortlessly browse through all the ads included within a public board.
  • Share a board: Click the Share icon on a board to copy its link. Anyone logged in to GetHookd sees the full board. Someone who isn't logged in sees a preview — the board's longest-running ads and who curated it — with an invitation to start a free trial to unlock the rest.
